ADSP is pleased to announce the launch of its Action plan for integration: Herat. The Action Plan aims to guide the programming and policy interventions of a range of humanitarian and development partners, to support the early recovery of communities affected by displacement in Herat.

Based on a series of indicators relevant to physical, material, and legal safety, the assessment highlights the disparities between those who have been directly affected by displacement (IDPs and returnees) and host communities, along with the challenges that the displaced have in integration. While this is not a needs assessment, and is not meant to serve as a substitute for technical assessments, it aims to develop a programmatic strategy to enhance community resilience and integration between host and displaced populations, bringing together a broad coalition of humanitarian and development actors with complementary skills.

The Action Plan drew upon the findings of 3,200 surveys, providing detailed snapshot of living conditions amongst urban and peri-urban communities in Herat. An overview of the findings and associated Action Plan are presented in a report which can be downloaded here (in English) and here in Dari. Those wishing to view the figures in more detail are invited to view the data visualisation. Finally, the methodology, tools and full data set are also available in the annex, and to download in soft copy.
