The Asia Displacement Solutions Platform (ADSP) first began its journey as the Afghan Displacement Solutions Platform to contribute to the development of comprehensive solutions for Afghans affected by displacement. The Platform was launched as a joint initiative of the Danish Refugee Council, International Rescue Committee, Norwegian Refugee Council and Relief International under the aegis of ADSP to enhance collaborative efforts on policy advocacy for improved outcomes for displaced Afghans.

In 2017, more than 773,000 Rohingya refugees from Myanmar were forced to flee to Bangladesh giving rise to one of the biggest humanitarian crises of the decade. In response, the ADSP expanded its geographic scope to include solutions for displacement affected populations from Myanmar. As such, we transitioned from the Afghan Displacement Solutions Platform to the Asia Displacement Solutions Platform in 2019. With this expanded remit, ADSP began to work closely with displaced populations and lead evidence-based advocacy initiatives to achieve improved outcomes for displacement-affected communities from both sub-regions.

In 2021, ADSP consolidated its membership to three, and has continued to draw upon the operational presence of its member agencies in the region for constructive dialogue and evidence-based advocacy initiatives to contribute to a distinctive, field-led, perspective to policy and advocacy processes.
